SAP TERP10 Study Guide Help

During the SAP TERP10 class it was very helpful to simplify everything as much as possible.  One of the greatest helps in studying was creating mnemonics for crucial areas.  Some helpful SAP study mnemonics are below.  Also check out my post on my reaction to SAP TERP10, it includes some recommendations, hints and tips you may find helpful.

SAP Terp10 Training Certification Exam

What is that I see… Oh, simply the wonders of Wisconsin! For the past two weeks room 438 of the Hilton Milwaukee River hotel has been home.  I had the awesome opportunity to participate in a SAP Terp10 certification course offered at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Terp10 is a 10 day course focusing on the integration of business processes in SAP.  In many ways Terp10 provides a foundation for all else SAP.

The class was very interesting and without a doubt worthwhile, but to say it was more demanding than I first thought is an understatement.  Our typical day went from 8am to 4pm/5pm with lunch and short breaks throughout.  After class we would study until it was time to sleep. Over the two weeks in Milwaukee I have never studied more.  I did go down to Chicago between the two weeks of class but studying still made up ninety percent of the trip.  More time was spent with my eyes glued to the 1200 pages of SAPenese than I spend looking at textbooks during a 16 week school semester. Pretty crazy!

Our instructor was great and really knew his stuff.  For anyone planning to take the Terp10 class in the future do your best not to doze off in class.  The experience and knowledge your instructor can provide you with just may make the difference between a passing test grade and failure.

A few recommendations, hints and advice for future SAP TERP10′ers:

Study every night, your instructor is not joking when they tell you this. For the first couple days I took our teachers advice lightly and simply skimmed over the material for a few hours. This is NOT ENOUGH!

The exam is 80 questions and a total of 300 points / answers.  A question can have multiple answers; each correct answer is a point.  Passing grade is 70% correct. This means you need 210 points or more to pass.

It does not matter where your 210 points come from.  Use your time efficiently and study the questions you know will be on the exam.  It may not be worth your time to take hours and study an area that will have one question.

Mnemonics are your best friend.  Check out the SAP TERP10 brief study guide for some examples.

Take out all the blank pages, exercises, and nonsense from the TERP10 study books.  This really does help, I wish I tried this.  A friend from Philly I was taking the class with did this and his two books were easily each an inch to an inch and a half smaller.  You will need the exercises in class so don’t tear them out until after they have been completed.  (He found this tip from the blog: http://neverarguewithanidiot.blogspot.com/2009/03/hints-and-tips-for-sap-terp101e.html)

Read the books and have a good visual of each slide in your head.  The book is an in-depth explanation of each slide your instructor shows.  The layout of the book does not get much simpler… An image of a slide with details below.

Persistence, can’t stress this enough.  Be ready to work hard and your two weeks will hopefully be accompanied by a passing grade.

In Conclusion

Terp 10 is a great course to take if you are looking to expand your total knowledge of SAP.  The course looks at SAP as a whole.  You do need an understanding of the basics of SAP; TERP10 is not an SAP 101 course.   When you pass the exam you become an SAP Certified Associate as an SAP Certified Solution Architect.  Don’t know too much about the details, still waiting for the information to come in the mail.

Free McAfee Virus Scan and Security Suite for Comcast Customers

Security threats on the Internet are a serious matter. Besides being a nuisance and resource hog, viruses, spyware, malware, and adware can send out confidential information to hackers with malicious intent. To help avoid these threats it is best to have some sort of software protection beyond what microsoft provides. Comcast high speed Internet subscribers luck out. For a while now the company has provided free protection through the McAfee security suite, a well respected product by my book. While this offer has been around for some time, it was not until a few days ago that I finally took advantage of it. My previous Norton AntiVirus subscription had expired and I did not feel like shelling out the sixty or so dollars to renew it. Initially on a recommendation from a friend, I turned to give ZoneAlarm a shot. After finding out their software is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Vista I went for the free Comcast offer. So far so good! The McAfee suite works with both the 32-bit version and 64-bit version of Windows. The link to the download page is http://www.comcast.net/Security/SecSuiteSSO/. Be sure to completely remove your old security software to avoid any install issues.
